Johnny Powers

Johnny is currently Co-Founder and Chairman of Suntex Marinas after spending the past 12 years as the Suntex Chief Executive Officer. Johnny is also a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Resilient Capital Partners, one of Suntex Marinas’ largest equity holders. In addition to overseeing the Suntex Board of Directors and working with the Suntex executive team on all strategic decisions, Johnny plays a key role in setting the vision for all of Suntex’s key philanthropic efforts. He has more than 30 years of investment experience, having overseen approximately $2Billion in mergers and acquisitions transactions for Suntex, Sun Resorts International and other affiliated entities.

Johnny previously served as Managing Director of Sun Resorts International and President of Sun Resorts Management (with 400 employees), two companies that worked synergistically to acquire, own and manage marinas in the United States, the Caribbean and Mexico for significant cash-flow returns and long-term investor value. Sun Resorts sold most of its asset portfolio and management company to Island Global Yachting, where Johnny served as Executive Vice President. Prior to Sun Resorts, Johnny founded Harvard Property Trust, a Texas-based, private real estate investment trust that acquired approximately $200M in suburban office buildings in Texas and Minnesota.

Johnny earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics and Finance from Southern Methodist University. He serves on the board of the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides scholarships for families of deceased and disabled veterans.
